Shadow Ball

Shadow, shadow on the wall
Playing light against the dark
How have you carried me this far?
Falling leaves out in the yard
As the summer changed to fall
Wishing on a firefly in a jar
And I’m waiting waiting for your call
I feel I’m playing shadow ball
Wondering if my love matters at all
Shadow ball
(Chorus 1)
A circle and a square
The tortoise and the hare
No matter where you go I will be there
I'm smitten smitten for your love
I cannot ever get enough
Like a kitten with an endless ball of yarn
Still the same as it was then
I love you so until the end
When you’re with me I cannot pretend...
(Chorus 2)
...That our love isn’t there
Despite the differences we share
You can’t fool me I know you care
(Chorus 1)
We’re a circle and a square
Like the tortoise and the hare
But no matter where you go I’ll still be there
And I’m smitten smitten for your love
I cannot ever get enough
Like a kitten with an endless ball of yarn
But I'm waiting waiting for your call
Like I’m playing shadow ball
Waiting as the winter chases the fall
Shadow ball
Shadow ball

Shadow, shadow on the wall

Playing light against the dark

How have you carried me this far?

Falling leaves out in the yard

As the summer changed to fall

Wishing on a firefly in a jar

And I’m waiting waiting for your call

I feel I’m playing shadow ball

Wondering if my love matters at all

Shadow ball

Chorus 1

A circle and a square

The tortoise and the hare

No matter where you go I will be there

I'm smitten smitten for your love

I cannot ever get enough

Like a kitten with an endless ball of yarn

Still the same as it was then

I love you so until the end

When you’re with me I cannot pretend...

Chorus 2

That our love isn’t there

Despite the differences we share

You can’t fool me I know you care

Chorus 1

We’re a circle and a square

Like the tortoise and the hare

But no matter where you go I’ll still be there

And I’m smitten smitten for your love

I cannot ever get enough

Like a kitten with an endless ball of yarn

But I'm waiting waiting for your call

Feel I’m playing shadow ball

Waiting as the winter chases the fall

Shadow ball

Strange New Toy

A clean slate

A twist of fate

Can’t help the feeling

I got here a bit too late

Where will you go

When your time is gone

And the sunlight is no more?

Flying around the lake

Letting go of all your mistakes

Fall into the well

The angels only can tell

Where you will be tonight or tomorrow

Fall into the well

The angels only can tell

Where you will be tonight or tomorrow

Chorus

But around the corner

Closer to the border

You will see a strange new toy

Inside the mirror

A reflection of your face floats to space

You are the one I see

All forgiveness comes back to me

Apples from a tree floating upon the sea

While you’re flirting with disaster

Chorus

And around the corner

Closer to the border

The light reflects on a strange new toy

Daylight ever faster

I blink and it is gone

Until the dawn covers my eyes

Where will you go

When your time is gone

And the sunlight is no more?

Where will you go

When your time is gone

And the sunlight is no more?

Fall into the well

The angels only can tell

Where you will be tonight or tomorrow

Fall into the well

The angels only can tell

Where you will be tonight or tomorrow

Where you will be tonight or tomorrow

Where you will be tonight or tomorrow

Five Minutes Away

Locking up the door
Five minutes away from anywhere
Listening through the crack in the floor
Five minutes away from anywhere
Rich and poor, less and more
Five minutes away from anywhere
SUV with too many mouths to feed
Five minutes away from anywhere
Five minutes away from anywhere
(Chorus)
I can hear you, but I can’t make out the words
I know that it hurts to let go
You’ve been to a thousand different places
It's time to make yourself a better home
Sidewalk stained, something I can’t explain
Five minutes away from anywhere
Crowded streets with too many mouths to feed
Five minutes away from anywhere
Five minutes away from anywhere
(chorus)
I can hear you, but I can’t make out the words
I know that it hurts to let go
You’ve been to a thousand different places
It’s time to make yourself a better home
Children ask about the past
Five minutes away from anywhere
We can see love grows under a canopy
Five minutes away from anywhere
Five minutes away from anywhere
Five minutes away from anywhere
Five minutes away from anywhere

Locking up the door

Five minutes away from anywhere

Listening through the crack in the floor

Five minutes away from anywhere

Rich and poor, less and more

Five minutes away from anywhere

SUV with too many mouths to feed

Five minutes away from anywhere

Five minutes away from anywhere

Chorus

I can hear you, but I can’t make out the words

I know that it hurts to let go

You’ve been to a thousand different places

It's time to make yourself a better home

Five minutes away from anywhere

Crowded streets with too many mouths to feed

Five minutes away from anywhere

Five minutes away from anywhere

Chorus

Children ask about the past

Five minutes away from anywhere

We can see love grows under a canopy

Five minutes away from anywhere

Five minutes away from anywhere

Five minutes away from anywhere

Five minutes away from anywhere

Free

A surrealist painting on an otherwise empty wall
Tells me the rain’s gonna come, the sky’s gonna fall
Falling stars are never far away
Wish on them before they all go away
A life that waits and a life that never starts
A child that plays and an old man throwing darts
All of this is moving in a straight line
And where is my inspiration this time?
(chorus)
I’ve been looking for signs that were there all the time
For the future, but the past didn’t rhyme
So I made it fit but they all could see
I was going the wrong way down a one-way street
It took so long to realize that life moves
Moves in a straight line
The wind picked me up above the street
And I can’t remember a day when I felt so free
There's a wishing well that’s covered by a pane of glass
I wanted all my wishes down there to last
But they changed to wishes I didn’t recognize
And where is my inspiration this time?
(chorus)
I’ve been looking for signs that were there all the time
For the future, but the past didn’t rhyme
So I made it fit but they all could see
I was going the wrong way down a one-way street
It took so long to realize that life moves
Moves in a straight line
The wind picked me up above the street
And I can’t remember a day when I felt so free
So free
One day I heard a hand brush across my floor
The noise grew louder as I opened the door
But just as soon as I heard it, it was gone
Like a morning dew disappearing after the dawn
(chorus)
I’ve been looking for signs that were there all the time
For the future, but the past didn’t rhyme
So I made it fit but they all could see

Untitled And Unfinished

Sitting alone, silently wishing

Wishing the sun would come out

And wake up the city

Walking into an endless black tunnel

Where is the light that will lead me,

Lead me to you?

Walking in fields, my feet touching blades of grass

I lay my head on a pillow,

A pillow of leaves

Looking down on an endless white waterfall

Remembering the ages of ancients

The sky was still blue

Chorus

And I could wait here for 500 years

500 winters and falls, summers and springs

Look out the window, the leaves turning blue

The clouds wash the pavement with gray, gray memories

Reading aloud against an aerial background

A tape loops a bird

Flying high up above the earth

She feels her shadow detach itself

The shadow becomes the wing of,

The wing of rebirth

I walk in the street, my eyes darting round

Sometimes I wish it could be like it was in my hometown

Walking into an endless black tunnel

That shines no light

I can’t see, nor hear any sound

Chorus

I could wait here for 500 years

500 winters and falls, summers and springs

Beautiful brown eyes, they break me in two

I run away down the road I will be home soon

I will be home soon...

Sitting alone, silently wishing

Wishing the sun would come out

And wake up the city...
