What Is the Next Note

wrote the lyrics, fittingly, on a subway. my grandfather's passing inspired me to write this, as did another friend's death very soon after. It's about trying to figure out who you are before it's too late.
what is the next note i play faces on the subway look away I thought about death today when people i love have gone away where did they go? connections made and connections lost reaching for what we don’t understand and held back by what we do on the subway car I see electric notes repetition makes me want to float to where I do not know i hear a whisper down the hall I always knew you would freefall out of there and out of here And a face comes out of the darkness a shape emerges when the tune is sung and you can never see your reflection until you know what it is for What is the next note I play faces on the subway look away A tale of mystery behind the door heaven and hell lay on the floor of the subway that leads me home a bird cries in the sun the world that we built has come undone can we build it once again? I see a face coming out of the silence a shape emerges when the tune is sung and i could never see my reflection until i knew what it was for What is the next note i play faces on the subway look away And a face came out of the darkness a shape emerging when the tune was sung and we can never see our reflections until we know what they are for What is the next note i play faces on the subway look away…
